Who do you think you are?

Who would you like to learn about?

 

You will be writing a 5 pargraph biographical essay about a person of your choice.  Once the essay is completed, then you will have the opportunity to dress up as the person and present your person.

 

 

1. Choose a person that you would like to research.  You can use the resources below if you would like to help you choose a person.

2. Ask your teacher for the organizer to help you organize your bio.

 

3. On your organizer write the name of the person you are researching.

 

4. Read about and research the person.

 

5. Create a topic sentence for paragraph 2 (their life) , paragraph 3 (their accomplishments) , and paragraph 4 (why research them). Write these down on your organizer

6. On your organizer, write down 3 facs about your person's life.

 

7. On your organizer, write down 3 facts about your person's accomplishments.

 

8. On your organizer, write down 3 facts about why this person is worth learning about.

 

8B. Use your facts to create a thesis that your essay will prove.  On your organizer write down your thesis.

 

9. Write an introductory paragraph that includes a catchy sentence, a few sentences about the person to introduce, a sentence about each of the body paragraphs (paragraph 2, paragraph 3, paragraph 4), a concluding sentence).  Make sure it includes six sentences, each sentence is different and contains different words, and has strong verbs and adjectives. Click here for a checklist to check your work.

 

10.Write an 2nd paragraph that includes a topic sentence about their life, sentences and facts about their life, a concluding sentence. 11.Write an 3rd paragraph that includes a topic sentence about their accomplshments, sentences and facts about their accomplishments, a concluding sentence. 12.Write a 4th paragraph that includes a topic sentence about why we should learn about them, sentences and facts about why we should learn about them, a concluding sentence. 13.Write a 5th paragraph that includes a topic sentence about your person, a sentence about each of the body pargraphs (pargraph 2, paragraph 3, paragraph 4),  a catchy concluding sentence. 14. Find some pictures of the person and put them on a PowerPoint

 

15. Find  some clothes or props to help you make look like the person.

 

16. Present your essay to the other students.
