This page will help you to develop your ability to find the similarities and differences between different objects.

Step 1. Compare and Contrast of two objects.

 

 

1. Choose two objects in the room.

 

2. Using one of the Venn diagrams on the side write down the similarities and differences between the two objects.  On the outside circles write the differences and on the inside where the two circles intersect put their similarities.

 

3. Write two paragraphs.  One paragraph should explain the differences between the two objects and one paragraph should explain the similarities between the two objects.  Make sure each paragraph includes:

 

-topic sentence

-at least 3 supporting details

-concluding sentence

- a picture

-six sentences

 Step 2: Help Choose a Snack

 

1. Choose two of the proposed snacks. Ask Mr. Fracchia and Mr. Connors for a sample of snacks.

 

2. Using one of the Venn diagrams on the side write down the similarities and differences between the two objects.  On the outside circles write the differences and on the inside where the two circles intersect put their similarities.

 

3. Write three paragraphs.  One paragraph should explain the negatives of the two snacks, one paragraph should explain the positives of the two snacks, and finally a paragraph explaining which snack Mr. Fracchia should choose and why..  Make sure each paragraph includes:

 

-topic sentence

-at least 3 supporting details

-concluding sentence

-six sentences
